A Buyer’s Guide to EasyStand Standing Aids

EasyStand’s range of standing aids for disabled patients comes in three models, all of which have unique characteristics designed for different purposes. In this blog, we will take a detailed look at each of them, from the EasyStand Evolv to the Glider and StrapStand.

EasyStand Evolv

With over 60 configuration options, the EasyStand Evolv is the most versatile model in the EasyStand range. Its modular design enables it to move and change in so many ways from big to small that it can suit any needs you may have, although many will be fine with the default position.

You’ll be able to make the optimal standing position with the EasyStand Evolv standing frame thanks to pivot points like the hip supports, lateral supports, and head support being located in the body’s natural pivot points. Its adjustable footplates and optional independent knee pads accommodate hip and knee contractures.

The contoured transfer seat on the EasyStand Evolv provides maximum pressure relief for various body types, and alternative configurations include a larger seat or even a rotating seat to support easier independent transfer. There are other ways in which the EasyStand Evolv promotes independence for the user when it comes to transitioning between sitting and standing, such as a shadow tray to lean on while getting up, a manual hydraulic actuator or an optional push-button control we call “Pow’r Up Lift”.

The EasyStand Evolv comes in three sizes. The EasyStand Evolv Medium supports 90kg of weight and is suited to teenagers and shorter adults. Meanwhile, the Evolv Large supports up to 127kg and is a great fit for adults, while the Evolv XT supports up to 159kg and is suitable for particularly tall adults.

EasyStand Glider

The EasyStand Glider’s main asset is allowing its users to exercise. The workout handles are moveable by the user and create a corresponding movement in the legs, making for the ideal standing frame for restoring strength in the body.

The EasyStand Glider has been the catalyst for many personal medical breakthroughs for users who suffer from spinal cord injuries, stroke, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis and more. The workout handles allow for adjusting the resistance so a carer can control how difficult movement should be, meaning carers and physiotherapists can tailor their training program to different strength levels.

When the exercise is over, the EasyStand Glider is equipped with a wide seat, flip-up knee pads and a positioning bar to make transfers and sitting back down all the easier. The Glider is available in medium and large sizes, the former being able to take up to 90kg of weight, and the latter accommodating up to 127kg of weight.

EasyStand StrapStand

Ideal for mobile standing transfers, the EasyStand StrapStand is an adult standing frame that lifts users directly from their wheelchair into a standing position. This standing aid has many safety measures to make it smooth sailing and is great for those who have suffered from a spinal cord injury, stroke, obesity, multiple sclerosis, spina bifida or a traumatic brain injury.

Whether you need to stand because of tight hips and knees caused by extended wheelchair use or to recover from an injury as soon as possible, the StrapStand aids the user to get up on their feet with a simple set of steps. Position the straps beneath the buttocks, attach them to the lifting arms and pump the manual actuator handle, and you’ll be lifted into a standing position.

The design of the StrapStand minimises the amount of pressure on the knees and prevents them from being pushed forward into the knee pad. Its narrow frame means that the user can easily travel through most doorways, and it can take up to 159kg of weight.
