Does an Easystand Standing Aid Need to Be Serviced by Easystand?
Read on to find out everything you need to know about servicing your Easystand product, including the benefits of servicing, what a typical service includes, and how to book one.
Easystand products are designed to be simple and straightforward to use, making the transition from sitting to standing a relatively easy process. But beneath the skin, our standing aids are more complex than they might appear. A multitude of different components work in perfect harmony to make the process of standing safe and stress-free: if any one component fails or falls out of adjustment, the safety and smoothness of the standing aid may be compromised.
That’s where servicing comes in. As the UK’s primary distributor of Easystand products, we have the knowledge, experience and parts required to keep your standing aid in perfect condition for years to come.
Altimate Medical, the manufacturer of Easystand products, recommends that all Easystand standing aids should be serviced by an authorised supplier or service centre like us. But why is this – what are the benefits of getting your equipment serviced by our team?
We’ll answer that question and more right here. Read on to find out everything you need to know about servicing your Easystand product, including the benefits of servicing, what a typical service includes, and how to book one.
Why service your standing aid?
The benefits of servicing a standing aid are much the same as servicing a car. The role of a service is to spot potential problems before they present themselves, effectively keeping you one step ahead of any parts failures. Prevention is better than cure, as they say, and it’s no different here: servicing your standing aid in accordance with the manufacturer’s guidelines will help keep it in great condition for years to come, protecting your investment.
The benefits don’t end there. Not only can servicing improve the reliability of your standing aid and help maintain its performance well into the future, it helps keep both the user and caregivers safe. A failure during the sit to stand transition could have a serious effect on the user in particular, potentially causing an injury that delays their recovery or makes their daily life more challenging. By servicing your standing aid regularly, you’ll have the peace of mind that it’s in full working order and is safe to use.
It’s important to use an official Easystand retailer for servicing. Why? Well, they have the knowledge and experience that’s required, for starters. They’ll follow the manufacturer’s recommendations to the letter, thoroughly inspecting each and every component and carrying out any preventative maintenance that’s required. Plus, official Easystand retailers will have all the necessary spare parts in stock too: if any component does need replacing, we’ll be able to sort it without having to order parts in from overseas.

Other standing aid maintenance requirements
In between services, there are a number of steps you can take to keep your Easystand equipment in prime condition. Regular cleaning and sanitising is a must; not only is this beneficial for both the user and caregivers, but it helps maintain the appearance and integrity of fabrics, rubbers and plastics. A thorough clean should be carried out at least once a month, or after each use if multiple users are sharing the standing aid.
Occasionally, it may be necessary to purge the standing aid’s hydraulic actuator to remove air from the system. Simply pump the handle through to full extension 10 times.
